Each year the Wildwood Beach Patrol recruits lifeguards to protect its 1.25 miles of ocean beach. All candidates must undergo extensive training before they can become ocean lifeguards. Wildwood Beach Patrol sets rigorous standards that meet the requirements set by the South Jersey Lifeguard Chiefs Association.
We are particularly interested in hiring competitive runners, rowers and swimmers. Foreign applicants/students must have the proper work permit or visa. The lifeguard try-out for Wildwood Beach Patrol will be held on Saturday 9th of June 2007 at 10:30 a.m. The test consists of a 500 yard swim in 10 minutes or less (front crawl stroke only). Once candidates pass the swim they go onto the next phase of testing: (1) 1 mile beach run, 7 min. 30 sec or less (2) Run - ocean swim, conditions permiting  (3) Surf-dash, timed (4) Personal interview Application forms will be provided at the pool on the day of the test. Canidates under 18 years must have a parent signature on the applicastion. Welcome to Wildwood Beach Patrols website. The Wildwood Beach Patrol is responsible for protecting approximately 1.25 miles of beach, from Cresse Avenue to 26th Street in Wildwood, New Jersey. The area is divided into three sections: North Beach, Central Beach and South Beach. There are usually 24 lifeguard stands manned during the season (Memorial Day to Labor Day). These stands are supported by Lieutenant personnel in fourwheel drive vehicles. Additional support is provided by allterrain cycles, a waverunner, and other jetdriven watercraft. All personnel are in contact with each other by radio transmitters which have the capability of communicating with the City of Wildwoods Police and Fire/Rescue departments.Wildwood Beach Patrol is a member of the South Jersey Lifeguard Chiefs Association and our lifeguards participate in a variety of lifeguarding competitions at the local, regional, and national level. Wildwood Beach Patrol is also the proud host of the annual Dutch Hoffman Lifeguard Races. |
